A whole lot of people see crying as something that has only disadvantages and that its detrimental to health, but that's not completely true, crying also has advantages since it helps in a way or the other. We will look comprehensively into how crying will can be of advantage to us irrespective of the cause of crying. Lets take a look below.

1. CRYING IMPROVES YOUR VISION: The National Eye Institute has confirmed that crying helps improve our vision by lubricating the eyeballs and eyelids. Tears help keep the surface of the eye moist and wash away dust and debris.
2. CRYING EASES BURDEN: Sometimes we pretend everything is okay instead of just crying and letting it out. While crying won’t solve a problem, it at least ensures you come to terms with the problem. Holding back those tears can be detrimental for your emotional health.
3. CRYING BOOSTS YOUR MOOD: A 2008 study from the University of South Florida found that crying can help elevate our mood better than any antidepressant. During the research, the researchers observed that crying improved the mood of almost 90 percent of people that cried compared to 8 percent who reported crying made them feel worse.

4. CRYING HELPS YOU FLUSH OUT TOXINS: A study performed by Dr William H. Frey II at the St Paul-Ramsey Medical Centre found that stress-related tears and tears caused by physical irritants (eg tears caused by chopping an onion) are not the same. The study found that tears that are produced by stress help body get rid of chemicals that raise cortisol, the stress hormone. When we cry, toxic substances are released from the body.
5. CRYING BOOST OUR IMMUNE SYSTEM: Your tears are packed with immune support. Lysozyme, a potent bacteria-fighting protein which helps us fight illness and infection is found in tears especially emotion-based tears.
6. CRYING DEEPENS INTIMACY: Crying helps boosts intimacy by promoting an emotional connection. It also helps you elicit compassion from others. Crying can make you feel understood, comforted and stronger to face the challenges at hand.
So when next there is a reason to cry, don't hold it back, you may just look for a more private place and cry so as to maintain a balance in the body and eye.
